A Day in Hanahan

The City of Hanahan turned 50 in 2023 and this small town has a lot to celebrate. They have maintained that small town feel while introducing new infrastructure, schools, shopping centers and green spaces. Situated between North Charleston and Goose Creek, this convenient area is easy to get to and surprisingly full of activities.

Start with coffee at Brew at Bowen. Enjoy the patio and try one of their coffee flights. Afterall, variety is the spice of life!

Then head to the Bettis Boat Landing to launch your kayak for miles of paddling and fishing in the 600 acre Goose Creek Reservoir. It's a fresh water lake with 10 miles of shoreline and a tributary that leads to the Cooper River. Look out for gators!

Next, check out the 5 acre Hanahan Amphitheater, which overlooks the reservoir and features a one-mile scenic walking trail (dog friendly!). There are movies in this park in the spring and fall. There's also a "Red, White, and Blue Fall Festival" every November honoring veterans with military displays, jump castles, kids games, food and craft vendors, and carnival rides.

Grab lunch at Dashi on Remount Rd.The funky restaurant has a retro 70's vibe and features Asian + Latin fusion dishes. I like the duck ramen and steamed buns. Their mojitos are on point - try the blueberry.

Right next door is the 40 acre Ingevity WestRock park (formerly Meadwestvaco Park) also on Remount. There's a playground for kids and plenty of greenspace if the weather is nice.

There's another brand new 50+ acre park called The Hawk's Nest that features 6 tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, multipurpose field, artificial turf field, playground, fishing ponds, basketball court, two baseball/softball fields and a covered pavilion.

Finish your day with an Angry Hawaiian pizza and dipped tenders at Famulari’s Pizzaria or head to the restaurant scene at Park Circle, which is minutes away down North Rhett.
