Snee Farm: An Expert’s Guide

If you’re considering a home in Snee Farm, you’re looking at one of the most established, well‑located, and character‑rich neighborhoods in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. With nearly 50 years of history, a private country club, mature landscaping, and unbeatable proximity to beaches and downtown Charleston, Snee Farm offers a lifestyle that newer communities simply can’t replicate.

Few neighborhoods in Mount Pleasant carry the history, heart, and staying power of Snee Farm. While I have more than 20 years of experience representing buyers and sellers in this community, it isn’t just a place I sell - it’s the place that raised me. I swam on the championship Snee Farm Swim Team under famed coach Jason Kreutner and practiced my short game on the 5th green with my dad. I learned to drive on its wide and rode bikes with childhood friends who remain my closest friends today. When I moved into Snee Farm in 1991, its northern location was considered so outskirts that my slumber guests were limited to the neighborhood. Other parents objected that it was too far to drive! What was once considered “too far out” is now the center of Mt Pleasant.

A Neighborhood Built on History

Long before Snee Farm became one of Mount Pleasant’s most established residential communities, it was part of a historic plantation dating back to the 1700s. The land was once the country estate of Charles Pinckney, a signer of the U.S. Constitution. George Washington visited Snee Farm in 1791 during his Southern Tour as President of the United States. Today, a portion of that original property is preserved as the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, a 28‑acre remnant of the original 715‑acre plantation.

The residential neighborhood as we know it began development in the 1970s, with most of its 900+ homes built between the mid‑70s and mid‑80s. This era of construction is part of what makes Snee Farm so special today—larger lots, mature trees, and architectural variety that newer communities simply can’t replicate. There’s nothing “cookie cutter” about it, and the wide streets and large lots make it an idyllic setting to come of age.

The Homes of Snee Farm

Snee Farm is made up of nearly 1,000 single‑family homes spread across roughly 700 acres, plus several townhome and condo enclaves (Ventura Villas, Snee Farm Gardens, Snee Farm Lakes). You’ll find everything from charming 1,200‑square‑foot patio homes to grand 4,000‑square‑foot golf course estates. There have been a few tear-downs and total renovations that have produced a sprinkling of even larger, more modern homes. Lot sizes are generous, and many homes back to the golf course, ponds, or wooded buffers. Snee Farm’s market has appreciated significantly in recent years, driven by its central location, lot sizes, and the enduring appeal of an established golf‑course community.

As someone who has sold more than 145 homes in Snee Farm, I can tell you that pricing varies dramatically based on micro‑location: golf course frontage, street desirability, renovation level, and lot size all play a major role.

Snee Farm Country Club: The Heartbeat of the Neighborhood

At the center of Snee Farm is the Snee Farm Country Club, a private club located on the historic plantation grounds. The club offers golf, tennis, swimming and social memberships and features:

  • A George Cobb–designed championship golf course

  • A newly renovated clubhouse

  • Full‑service restaurant and bar

  • Fitness center

  • 18 tennis courts

  • Two renovated swimming pools—home to the championship Snee Farm Swim Team

  • Year‑round social events, from holiday parties to trivia nights

The golf course winds beautifully through the neighborhood, offering scenic views and a sense of openness that defines the community’s character. And yes - hole 5 will always be my favorite. My dad and I would start there on summer evenings and play around to get 9 holes in before sundown.

Note: There is currently a waiting list for club membership. It’s a private, members-only club so for now you’ll have to make friends with your neighbors and wait for an invite!

Why Buyers Love Snee Farm Today

Even as Mount Pleasant has grown, Snee Farm has held onto its identity: quiet, tree‑lined streets, oversized lots, and a central location that’s impossible to beat.

You’re minutes from beaches, the historic peninsula, I-526 for commuting, and shopping at Towne Centre. Yet inside the neighborhood, life feels calm, established, and rooted.

There is also the top rated school district. I attended Jennie Moore Elementary, Laing Middle School, and Wando High School. Snee Farm is now zoned for Lucy Beckham High School, named for my beloved principal, which has families flocking based on its desirability and reputation.

My Advantage: Why Experience Matters Here

Snee Farm isn’t just another neighborhood I sell - it’s the one I know better than any other. My marketing strategy is built on decades of lived experience, buyer behavior patterns, and a deep understanding of what makes this community special. If you’re looking for a real estate agent who knows Snee Farm inside and out - from the floor plans to the fairways - I’m the one.

I grew up at 827 Farm Quarter Road after my family rented on Royalist and Moss Bluff. I bought my first Snee Farm home at 1195 Farm Quarter in 2004, and still own it along with 5 investment properties in Snee Farm Gardens and Lakes. I renovated and flipped 1146 Plantation and 1183 Moss Bluff. Because I grew up here, invest here, and have sold more than 145 homes here, I offer:

  • Hyper‑local pricing expertise

  • Deep knowledge of floor plans and construction eras

  • Insight into which streets and sections command premium value

  • A marketing strategy tailored specifically to Snee Farm buyers

  • A personal understanding of the lifestyle and community

  • An understanding of the micro‑markets within the neighborhood: which streets trade higher, which homes back up to the golf course, which sections attract which buyers, and how to position a property for maximum value.

If you’re considering buying or selling in Snee Farm, you deserve someone who knows the neighborhood not just professionally but personally. When you hire me, you’re hiring someone who knows Snee Farm from the inside - not just from the MLS.
