Chasing Sage

My favorite new local restaurant is Chasing Sage on the crosstown, which is interesting because the menu is almost exclusively plant-based, and I've always considered myself a red blooded, red meat eater. It's full of blended ethnic dishes (japanese, chinese, mexican, french) without much rhyme or reason but all beautifully executed. The sommelier Ray is incredibly knowledgeable and in flow with  revolutionary young winemakers who are shaking things up in Napa. They've got a nice wine list divided into 3 reasonable price points and gorgeous hand crafted cocktails. I'm a sucker for anything with gin, lemon & egg whites and the Jazz Hands cocktail delivered. Daniel loved the tequila-based I Swallowed a Watermelon. We've done the Chef's tasting all three times we've been. It's a lot of food but it's the best way to tour the menu's best options: blue crab lettuce wraps, goat cheese squash blossoms, tomato cobbler with onion mousse, corn & bacon dumplings, and pear fritters.
