Heavy's Barburger

I’m not a die-hard burger person, and fancy gourmet burgers are lost on me. My favorite local burger has always been the simple, basic cheeseburger at Melvin's BBQ, but the smash burger style is fairly new to our area, so I wanted to give it a try. Heavy's Barburger is a new concept in an old spot - formerly the beloved Tattooed Moose on Morrison Street downtown. Unlike the name suggests, the burgers aren't heavy at all. Smashing them during high-temp flash-cooking renders a crispy thin patty. Their homemade sauces and dressings are especially flavorful. The onion rings were light and crispy, and they've got a creative bar list to wash it all down - including spiritless options, which always make me happy! Their singular dessert option is worth the splurge: a lemon/lime icebox pie in a graham cracker crust with the lightest and most delicious whipped cream I've ever tasted.
