Dap's Breakfast and Imbibe

My friend and I take each other out for a meal to celebrate our birthdays. My birthday is May 26th and I selected the highly touted Daps Breakfast and Imbibe. Because of a series of cancellations and rescheduling, we finally made it to Daps on August 19th ,THREE months after my birthday!  Better late than never, and it was wonderful.

Daps is a casual neighborhood breakfast shop and gathering place on Ashley Ave just off the Crosstown. It offers fine food and spirits as well as upscale coffee selections. I chose the chickpea patty and folded egg sandwich on English muffin with sorghum & Black Pepper Mayo. The patty was crumbly, but it didn’t matter, the taste was so good.  My “imbibe” was a delicious fresh raspberry lemonade .

My friend ordered the BLT, generously stacked with specialty pork belly from Holy City Hogs on Wadmalaw Island. It was a toss up as to which we liked better and we will definitely be back to try some of the other tasty offerings on the menu. Rumor has it the pancakes are to die for, topped with unusual but yummy items.

The staff was super friendly and we cozied up on one of the banquettes along the bright store front window. There was plenty of parking on the street. We saw a lot of take outs go out the door so also a good place to pick up an order to go.
